A ‘RAWSOME’ choc-chip banana ice-cream recipe + a GIVEAWAY!
Make no mistake about it, I am chocolate MAD. In fact I will confess to something naughty (knowing too that I have never sworn to purity!). Chocolate is the one area where I have been known to conveniently ‘forget’ my anti sugar stance and partake in a little 85% + dark chocolate (a little? come on Amy, a little honestly wouldn’t go astray ;-)). So it was with absolute pleasure (in all senses of the word) that I discovered this beautiful range of dark chocolate, containing no refined sugar or any hidden nasties. Rawsome is gluten free, soy free, dairy free, nut free, low GI (glycaemia index) and organic. This chocolate is rich, delicious AND healthy and is hand made with love in Bondi, one of Australia’s favourite beachside locations.
Who wouldn’t love one (or all) of these gorgeous flavours : cruisy coco, groovy ginger, mighty mint and coffee crunch. I challenge you to choose a favourite, the jury is well and truly still out over here! Here’s another little ‘sweetener’ (pun excused): Rawsome currently donates 10% of all sales to Sea Shepherd Australia and PETA (5% each). The packaging is made with 100% post consumer paper and they have actively supported a myriad of community events and campaigns, helping to promote: Mindful in May, Awake Sydney, TEDXSydney, HUB Sydney, UNAA’s (United Nations Association of Australia) World Refugee Day event, Vivid Festival Sydney and The Conscious Club in Sydney and Melbourne. Ok, let’s get to the recipe shall we? (Don’t blink or you’ll miss it).
RAWSOME choc-chip banana icecream
This recipe serves 2-3 small serves (it’s pretty rich).
Banana icecream is a taste sensation – seriously. Test it on those who don’t know what’s in their bowl and they’ll believe it’s dairy. It blends up into a soft serve consistency. It is easiest to make this with a high powered blender however a less powerful blender will still work, you just need a bit of patience. It’s also best to only make enough for the moment, it doesn’t freeze well.
2 large frozen bananas
1x 50gram block of RAWSOME chocolate, flavour of choice, broken into its little segments
Throw bananas into your blender and blend until smooth and creamy – not too long otherwise the heat of the blender will melt the ‘ice cream’. Push the mixture down onto the blades if you need to. If you are using a thermomix, put it on reverse and add your chocolate. Pulse until just combined. If you do not have a thermomix pop the chocolate into the blender and blend just long enough so that the chocolate has combined but so that you still have choc-chip pieces. And that my friends, is that!
